Crevasse Rescue Clinic

A working knowledge of improvised rescue systems is essential for all mountaineers and alpine climbers traveling in glaciated terrain. Although this course cannot replace a detailed mountaineering course, it will give you the specific knowledge to perform a self-rescue in glaciated terrain. The focus is of this course is on:

  • Glacier travel route finding
  • Rope management skills
  • Knots
  • Snow and ice anchor theory
  • Mechanical raising systems
  • Lowering systems
  • Self-ascending methods
